What an amazing display of netball we had in the Humber on Thursday 19th April at St Marys Academy in Hull.
240 Year 7 girls (24 teams) from Hull, East Riding, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire took part in this years Humber School Games. The teams were split into 3 Leagues with 8 teams in each league The Top 2 from each area were the “Bentley “ league The 3rd and 4th were the “Hardy” League and 5th and 6th were the “McDonald” league The top 2 from the 1st division (Bentley league) were South Hunsley and St Marys and they now go forward to represent the Humber at the Regional Year 7 School Games to be held at the EIS on Monday 30th April to play against the other 3 Yorkshire counties. Val Bentley, Humberside County did a great job as usual putting all the fixtures together and was tournament referee on the day. We had 14 young leaders from Wyke College who gave up their time to do the umpiring and 3 volunteers from Lloyd’s Bank gave up their time to do the scoring and time-keeping. It was a lovely sunny day and a great day of netball was had by all, feedback from the teachers and players was amazing as it gave more players the chance to take part in competition and they have asked for more schools tournaments to take place in the future.
